I was named Benue,
Born to the north,
Yet to the north I belong not,
So I reside in her center.
I am not deep in hustle,
My quest is to solve the howling of stomach puzzle,
My basket is never empty,
Even when I feed millions of mouth.
I am a tree with many variety of fruits,
Wild and meek,
My son’s are industrious like an ant,
My daughter’s are melanin in physique.
I am Benue,
Adorned with culture,
Endorsed by nature,
Recognized for passion in pleasure.
My land is fertile,
I harbour the element that gives life,
My face is rough and unkept,
But I believe in the future so I hope.
My name is Matthew Edeh Sunday. Am from Benue State and a student in the state University. I Started writing 2019 and it has been an amazing journey.
It was surprising because It never crossed my mind that I would be on this route. I abandoned her during college days for geography but gradually the ink found me. Am happy because she has never stopped bleeding.
